Wake Up Story from Healthy Child

It should be called Wake Up Call and it's a video from please watch: Healthy Child
I look around my home. I'm guilty to a couple of things such as accepting the plastic toys I receive as gifts that DS(Dear Son) plays(sorry dear friends..now I guess you know please buy wooden for DS) with but he equally plays enthusiastically with his wooden toys as well which I prefer because the are made by hand and the companies I like are made with love in North America, check out my faves on the right side panel under Labels. You'll find some fantastic family business wood toy makers. Some skincare products have phenoxyethanol, what does one do when it's in everything? Then there's TBHQ, a preservative found in crackers and baby skin care products and other products, like those Chicken Nuggets you get at a popular fast food joint, they spray TBHQ on them. If you know skincare brands that are free of these please let me know! I buy Organic and support my local farmers and read ingredients. Just because it says organic doesn't mean it's safe. Look for carrageenan, it might be in a lot of your organic dairy. Just because something is made for our children doesn't mean it's safe either. BPA has been found in jarred baby food; leaked from the plastic in the rim of the lid. But they say it's not enough BPA to do any damage. Bullocks to that...any synthetic hormone floating around in my DS body is not good.....I don't need "clinical trials/studies" to tell me its safe.
I don't know what to say but this video made me cry because of the truth in it and what the world has come to.
Damn the greed.
Everyone wants things fast, fast, fast. From pumping chicken with hormones where they grow so quickly that their breasts are so enlarged they fall over from the weight and break their legs. Think I'm lying? Watch Food Inc.
I don't know folks, this video made me think. You may not feel the same and think it's fear mongering eco media but my how things have changed. How can one not see that? Maybe you'll see me as your friend through this blog. If you watch the video, you'll know what I mean.
The wonderful site that introduced to me to this video that I found through twitter is My Eco Team.
Please leave a comment if you wish, I love hearing from my readers. No need to by shy with Mama Ash :)

I like this post a lot!!! I watched Food Inc. I was shocked! Even though I am Canadian and live in Canada we have different standards ... higher :| Sorry if that's offensive none the less we still get items from the US and aren't perfect what so ever! Its so liberating to know what your actually eating!
My question to you is, what does your husband think? was his reaction "Hunny, we need to buy all new food" (exaggeration)
I know that I have ordered meat packages that are from Gass Grain Beef - Free Run Chicken - which are much more expensive. Somethings this just isn't logical and my other half is the more frugal one - and although he agrees sometimes the price of organic cotton, even farm foods cost more than the stores.
We do continue to RARELY eat fast food, I mean rarely and do as much as we can on the Green/Hormone Free front..but, it's just interesting to see how much more we pay for a quality life? Healthy Children...:)
Thanks for your GREAT post.
My husband isn't as in to it as I am but he will "brag" about the good food that I make when he's talking to people about what was for dinner or he'll pipe in when I get on the topic of local, organic farmers. He agrees that it is too expensive but he's okay when I spend the money on DS for organics.
I love Culinarium on Mt.Pleasant in Toronto, not sure what part of Canada you're in but they offer great local food and I love Berretta Farms too.
Funny how our husbands have the same point of view. What is it with men?
Great post! I have been using some of the products from Melaleuca which I like and do actually clean! They are super affordable which make it an easy transition. Check out our blog where we have great tips for natural DIY family fun, recipes, etc.
