Never Ever but I'm Cheap(when it comes to markers & crayons) and not so Clever

Comedian of Momtourage and Tommee Tippee spokeswoman Sherry Davey asked: "Has your little Michelangelo drawn his/her first masterpiece on your living room walls yet? If not in the living room, where?"

When I read this on Tommee Tippee's Facebook page I was thinking with a snicker; oh yes...yes indeed!
Visions of Charlies masterpieces came back of his artwork all over the apartment and the sweet memory of me having to scrub them away flooded back and my snickering turned to growls.
His masterpieces have been on the wall, the recliner, the cupboards, the hallway doors and of course his face which leads me to this...NEVER EVER buy Dollar Store crayons or their "washable" markers.

Being a first time mom, I have learned the hard way so let me tell you because NO ONE TOLD ME!
NEVER EVER buy Dollar Store crayons or their "washable" markers.

I have spent what felt like hours scrubbing away at the walls because I of all moms(what kind of shopping guru am I?) cheaped out and bought Dollar store crayons/markers and I have paid the added price in labour cleaning the walls.
I even pulled out the scouring pad made of steel wool to scrub those damn walls down because of my budding artist and then I had to give them another wipe with my eco All Purpose cleaner (Merci Bon Ami you are my true Ami!)
So new moms out there and even the veteran moms in case you have forgotten, I repeat NEVER EVER buy cheap crayons and their washable markers.
You will spend "quality" time cleaning them off the walls, your clothes and your toddlers clothes will be stained, believe me it's not worth it!
All I had to do was buy Crayola!

Now I ask you:
Where has your little artist left his/her mark?

You know I never made that connection about the dollar store art supplies.

My 12 yr old Hazel, never drew on the walls. (i was a blessed first time parent)I didn't own markers for her, until that is Crayola introduced the Magic Pads and markers. I love that those markers only work on the paper! She did however leave me a masterpiece with stuff from her diaper, when I had left her with daddy and went out for 3 hours of mommy time.

My 8 yr old Halley is my picasso. I still have pictures on my walls! We've lived her for 6 yrs and my gosh, she managed to colour six feet off the floor! Every now and then I attempt to remove a little bit more of the pictures.

She hasn't drawn on the walls for a few years, but she had made that much of a picture. It was almost as if I was living in the Cistine Chapel. LOL We ended up painting one of the walls with chalkboard paint so as to not squash her creativity.

I'm hoping Hera will be kind and keep it on the paper.

Dear Mama Ash,

Thank you for leaving the comment on my blog. I will be sure to check out that documentary you recommended. I need all the help I can get. Any more suggestions? It seems like you know what you are talking about. Please help me. I am so tired all the time. What can I do to make a big difference? Please I really want to know. I am at a loss as I have been to the doctor and nothing is wrong.

Thank you Mama Ash!!

I have the problem with some "washable" paints I bought for my daughter. They really don't wash off at all! My sister has Crayola washable paints and we've used them at her house - they work way better. I can't bring myself to trash the ones I have thouh (too cheap, ha ha!) I'll save them for when she's older.
