Salt Lamps. Yes, I love them and believe in them!

I was just over at Emily's Latest and she had a great post on night lights and hers was about this cute mushroom light.
It got me thinking and being the shopaholic I am I thought "How cute, I want one" but then I remembered "Wait! I already have one for Chunkles room".

I have a salt lamp.  Have you ever started at them in the dark? They are beautiful, kind of like the same glowing peach like light that you see in prenatal books with baby in utero and this beautiful lighting which is really our circulatory system.   But I hope you know what I mean.  I'm not good at describing things.
In fact, we've had this for a number years.  When we had fish, and I know this will sound kooky to you but we had those Japanese Fighting fish and "Little Lady" was beginning to develop this growth around her eye.
Sad as we were, for some strange reason I had grown close to these fish and "Little Lady" was a really cool fish.  I swear she knew who I was.  She was flap her fins in excitement whenever I spoke to her, and I also swore she would watch me as I cooked. I loved her.

I remember hearing about the medicinal properties that this light has, so I moved her next to it.  She just sat there and gravitated next to the light.  Over the next few days her eye was getting better and she was coming back to her"happy" self.  We were both amazed and my husband loves telling this story.
"Little Lady" was happy and healthy again but about 3 months later he died.  Yes.  He. We were misinformed that "Little Lady" was not a female but a male fish.  Nonetheless I love him and was sad when I flushed him away.  Super sad but he lived his last 3 months growth over the eye free.

I do believe in the "magic' of these salt lamps.
With our salt lamp it does provide enough light to change a diaper in the dark and they are nice to have in baby's room.  So the next time you're at the Health Food store, do consider getting one because like I said, they are beautiful and there's an instant calm when you walk into the room.  I think you'd might like it.  It's a nice alternative to the traditional night lights.

I do like the light they give off. I will have to read up on the health properties! How interesting!

I've noticed that after using the salt lamp some white dust is visible on black appliances in the living room (which is next to the bedroom where the salt lamp is). Mainly on the new Xbox 360 console which is there (piano black glossy color). Is this some residue from the lamp? We also use a humidifier and I'm thinking the combination of it and the salt lamp is the reason for this strange white dust. Any similar experiences?

I haven't noticed anything different than the usual dust :)
