Beautiful products are at Pistachio and one of my many favorites are honeydumpling.
Why?
Because they're Canadian and you are soooo going to want to get this buckwheat mat from honeydumplings!
The Scoop on the Mat
When my Chunkle was an infant, I wish I had known about the Buckwheat Baby Mat $88.
Light weight and portable, perfect for those lazy days at the park, great for at home for having the best mat to practice tummy time on, take it to the grandparents, leave it in the crib(prevents flat head) it's the next best thing for your child to have.
Last summer I have fond memories of Charlie & I, sitting on a big sheet under a tree to have some shade. He'd be nursing and would fall asleep and I'd be lying there hoping he's comfy but I wish I had this mat for extra comfort for him and me.
The little bamboo loops are genius for attaching baby's favorite toys and baby will be contented so you can just lay there with and take it all in. Can you sense I am missing those days of Infancy?
I'd put this in his crib too because it helps to prevent flat head (which Chunkle got a little bit) it contours to baby's body and alleviates any pressure and the rustling sounds of the buckwheat are soothing. To learn more about the benefits, click here
It measures 25" by 30"
Did you know?
In many parts of Europe buckwheat pillows and mattresses are given to promote sound sleep for baby? I'm sure sleep deprived moms here are getting their credit cards out as I speak!
I know I am, I need the pillow and beautiful blanket, he's moving into a toddler bed very soon and his birthday is a month away, he'll be 2! How I miss those lazy days at the park.

Favorite Store, Pistachio
Sunday, August 29, 2010
There are some delightful new finds just in time for back to school at eco-green store, Pistachio in the heart of Yonge and Eglinton and I had the pleasure to have Kena, Pistachios buyer to show me whats new!
Why use plastic and paper bags that'll be thrown in the garbage? Spend a little now and you will never have to throw garbage out again and you'll be contributing to the Earth by teaching your kids the benefits of a waste free lunch.
The Lunch Kits
Some my favorites that I saw at the store were brands such as Kid Konserve, LunchBots, GoGreen Lunch Box and reusable bags from Canadian company Keep Leaf.

I desperately want a Fluf bag of my own, love this reversible bag the slouchy!
For colouring you have Clementine natural, soy based wax crayons, paint, markers and play dough

Eco Nuts on Everything Mom and Baby
Agoo Review and a $50 Giveaway!
Tuesday, August 24, 2010
~GIVEAWAY IS NOW OVER~
There are other leggings made of plain old cotton and then there's Agoo Leggings. They only wish they could be as soft and comfy as their bamboo competition.
These are a must for any baby carrying mama/papa out there with fall around the corner you will want bebe's legs covered and snuggly warm when in a carrier because as you know when in the carrier there's always that little bit of calf/ankle exposed.
Why Mama Ash loves them?
What I like about these in particular since I'm on a bamboo kick is they are made of eco friendly, 100% sustainable bamboo. One size fits all and they are so soft! When my son wears them I like the softeness factor, the size of them too. He will get years of use out them. No red marks around his thighs and they are beyond cute on him.
They also have clothing for your kids as well and all have a UV protection of 50, to learn more click here. It's actually quite neat what they have created for the ultimate style and quality in infant/children clothing.
I also love them because they are Canadian and their products ROCK!
Agoo Leggings
I love leggings for my BOY( I actually have the ones pictured to the left). With a cloth diaper (any diaper really but with cloth you can colour coordinate) and leggings pictures are too cute for words and the benefits of these leg huggers are numerous besides warmth in a carrier, but use them as long johns, protect their little knees when learning to crawl, heck have your child where them as sleeves too with a tshirt.
Another tidbit for the mom to be or new parents, when changing baby he/she'll be a little less unsettled when you have Leg Huggers on by Agoo. Remember, baby gets cold when you remove that onesie one of the causes for those piercing cries besides being scared; nothing like the gentle touch of a parents hand on their tummy and Agoo leggings to keep their legs warm. For more cuteness watch this video
More Awesomeness from Agoo
Go to their website and get 50% off your order with this code: agoo5050
Just for you! You're welcome, so go shop for some Back to School outfits for the older kids and get some Leg Huggers as gifts(Christmas is sneaking up, great stocking stuffers) or just shop for your baby. Afterall, you have a code for 50% off! Here's their site again. Agoo4U.

New Product from Badger! All Natural Face Stick SPF 30 Stick
What do I love about Badger products?
Their ingredients and the low level rate they get on EWG Cosmetic Base.
What's in it?
This protects the skin from the sun, wind, cold naturally. The sunscreen balm base is made from certified organic plant oils and beeswax with no added fragrance which can be irritating to the skin and Zinc Oxide(mineral based) is the active ingredient sunscreen.
From Nayla Natural, complete ingredient list: Other Ingredients: *Olea Europaea (Extra Virgin Olive) Oil, *Cera Alba (Beeswax), *Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Butter, *Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, and CO2 Extract of *Rosemarinus Officinalis (Rosemary)
* = Certified Organic
My Review
5/5 Stars
I was sent the Badger SPF 30 Sunscreen for the Face Stick to review for the last week or so and my dear son has had his face slathered in this natural goodness with no irritation and I can feel good putting this on him because of the simple ingredients and it's not a chemical suncreen. It goes on smooth and easy, you can toss it in your diaper bag, you're stroller caddy or just tuck it in your pocket. A fantastic sunscreen. Get it!
With the cold weather approaching and being an avid baby carrier the wind and sun can have a negative effect on baby's skin and thanks to this I can protect my sons face.
Just thinking of tobagging...this will be our first winter where we can have serious fun in the snow and his cheeks will be protected against windburn and the bright sun safely.
Thank you Nayla Natural Care for sending me this fantastic product!
I won't use chemical sunscreens(because they are estrogenic and synthetic) found in most of the popular drug store brands. Which now gets me thinking (as I am writing this) about skin cancer and the carcinogenic ingredients found in suncare? Could what people be using to protect their skin from the sun actually contribute to skin caner?
Read the ingredient list on these highlighted brand names. It shows you the carcinogenic ingredients. Oxybenzone and Retinyl Palmitate are the big ones and found in most sunscreens.
Look at Neutrogena's toxicity levels here, Hawaiin Tropic (why the heck is there Vitamin A in this product?!! Vit.A thins the skin) even this natural brand like Kiss My Face (their sunscreen is even questionable? It's unbalanced)and lastly Banana Boat (yuck!)
How does this get approved? Why do we have to live in such a toxic world????
At least I have given you something to think about(sorry!)
I am happy sticking with Badger products because I know 100% they are safe for me and my family.
I highly recommend Badger products and you can easily order them online from Nayla Natural Care.

Oink, Oink awesome store in Forest Hill
Friday, August 20, 2010
As you may know I have a serious shopping addiction when it comes to shopping for my son and a while ago I wrote a post about finding great stores throughout the GTA and my latest fave is Oink, Oink located at Avenue Rd and Eglinton Ave West, beautiful Forest Hill in Toronto,ON.

This store has everything and the fact that they have friendly, helpful staff makes it even better.
From newborn clothing, blankets, toys and all that other wonderful wee baby things to toddlerhood, more great clothes & a fantastic selection books and even more awesome toys for the big kids.
I love natural crayons like the brand Clementine ( I heart big time) this is a fantastic store for shopping for presents and for back to school!
One of my favorite finds was Wildkins back packs which is exclusive to Oink,Oink. Next they showed me Clementine crayons that are shaped like little rocks, this helps children teach the idea of writing with a pencil because the shape of the crayons you can only hold them using your thumb and index finger. Clememtine makes non toxic playdough, markers and natural paint.
I got Chunkles this creepy but fun to play with vintage Bozo the Clown punching balloon.
It's a great store that offers so much, if you're looking for something, you can probably find it at Oink, Oink! My favorite one stop shop.

Eco Nuts
Tuesday, August 17, 2010
I gotta tell you about something. It's nuts. Seriously it's nuts. Okay....it's EcoNuts.
Would you believe this fruit from the Soapberry Tree can wash your laundry and cloth diapers amazingly well? It can be thrown into the compost or even the flower garden when done.
I would say this is the first soap I recommend to everyone and anyone, but quality of soap nuts play a part too and Eco Nut is the BEST when it comes to the various brands of other soap nuts.
Why? Because I said so.
No seriously they are. In this picture an Eco Nut soap nut is on the left compared to another brand. Recently EcoNuts switched sides of the mountain and they are now 30% larger. No fertilizers, they are 100% certified organic! It is the shell from the soap nut with the seed removed, it is a fruit so if you are allergic to nuts you have nothing to worry about when using this for yourself.
The fruit from the Soap Berry tree contains saponin when mixed with water it suds up as you can see this video:
My experience with them has swept me off my feet.
These are the BEST for cloth diapers. I used them for the first time a couple of months ago. I put 5 soap nuts in the bag provided, tossed Chunkles cloth diapers in after sitting in a wet pail(yes, I do a wet pail. Dry doesn't work for me) and washed on hot.
I was astounded on how well they clean! No stains, even after bluberries and no ammonia smell what so ever. I actually put my face right up to the diaper and liners, took a deep breath in and no smell but fresh, clean diapers! I am SOLD.
Eco Nuts are organic, NUT allergy safe, biodegradable, antimicrobial, safe for eczema/psoriasis sufferers, great for septic and Gray Water systems, fragrance free and vegan.
You will love this soap when you try it.

Eco Cleaners for every corner of the House!
I love eco products, the less chemicals the better especially when your pregnant & you have to be extremely carefull with what you use, even in utero the amount of chemicals your exposed to and baby is scary.
Watch this video, it makes me cry every time to how toxic and sick the world is potentially becoming.
Bon Ami has been around for ages, 5 generations to be exact!
They are making a comeback with cute, smart packaging with a reto feel to it. I definitely am chanelling my inner Betty Draper from Mad Men(favorite show too!). My favorite from them is the scentless dish soap called Free and Clear when washing my dear sons' sippy cups and bottles.
Even better here's a list of ingredients you can pronounce! They use recipes not formulas, a little elbow grease and your clean and free from harsh chemicals.
Another favorite of mine is a brand from Denmark called Eco Clean.
Eco Clean is made from plant and sugar surfactants and the fragrance from them is stunning. Free of parabens, fully recyclable PET bottles, no phosphates, bleach, ammonia or petro chemicals.
It leaves a nice lingering scent when you are done washing dishes, washing your hands with their handsoap or wiping away finger prints on glass...or for me it's wiping away my little Picasso's artwork from the walls.
The non toxic range is made from sugar beets a sustainable, renewable, biodegradable resource from the Danish farms on the island of Falster. Eco Cleans non toxic range is child friendly because it minimizes the the exposure of vapors because of its foaming option nuzzle. How cool and great is that? Now send your children to do the chores with Eco Clean while you relax and continue to enjoy other articles on Everything Mom and Baby!
At least you'll know they are using safe ingredients and your home will smell lovely. Learn more about Eco Clean here

Pediped Flex Fit- Next Best Thing to Barefeet
I was recently sent a fantastic pair of shoes from the people of Pediped, one of my many of favorite brands of leather shoes for infants/toddlers/kids.
Pedi Ped Flex Fit
Why I love Pediped is because they use the best quality of leathers, each pair maximizes the flexibility and absorbs shock in the heels. With the Flex fit what I haven't seen in any other shoe is it comes with a insole, so buy one size up and insert the insole. When your childs foot grows, simply remove the insole and you'll get another good 6 more months or so of more wear in this great shoe.
We have gotten great use out of Chunkles shoes because of this feature, he takes a great step and I'm happy knowing he has quality shoes for proper foot and spine development.
Here's a look at just some of the cutest styles of Flex Fit for Fall. Click here for new arrivals

Earths Best Diapers
Friday, August 13, 2010
When it comes to disposables I have a couple of brands that I like and Earths Best being one of them, I learned some new things about what goes into these diapers and I'd like to share it with you.
They work great and when we did use them I was most impressed that they didn't leak for overnight wear. I do wish we had size 6 in Canada, as my husband has a harder time dealing with cloth diapers than I.
Most disposables have chemicals in them and those leading brand names are loaded with them, such as chlorine which is used to whiten the wood pulp. Did you know that one popular eco brand actually dyes their diaper with a natural pigment to enhance that natural unbleached look?
Chlorine creates a dangerous toxin called dioxin and furans(they need to add diapers to the list) that accumulate in people, there has been links to dioxin exposure contributing to cancer, birth defects and reproductive disorders. Diapers companies do not have to list the ingredients of their product.
Another fact about those national brand diapers also contain perfumes, plastic, latex and dyes which can irritate tender skin causing rashes and even eczema.
The big no, no in the national brand diapers and why a lot of parents cloth diaper (like myself) is the absorbent gel called(SAP) Sodium Polyacrylate. It was banned in 1985 because it was used in tampons and its links to Toxic Shock Syndrome(TSS). So why is it used in our babies diapers? Why do companies tout 12 hrs, overnight absorbency? Yes it is outside of the skin but your baby's bits are still somewhat exposed are they not? If anyone has any legitimate info on this please share.
Take a look at that brand that you probably used in the hospital( I would love to see hospitals change brands to Earths Best and even get more cloth diapers in hospitals) but at the tender age of being 3 minutes(estimation here) old infants are being exposed to harmful chemicals found in their diapers.
Earths Best Tender Care disposables are: certified chlorine- free wood pulp, latex free, perfume free, dye free and toxic free.
The wood pulp is made from a renewable resource, this wood pulp comes from sustainable forest and certified to be non-chlorinated.
The core is still a petroleum based gel but at the lowest amount of petroleum compared to the other national brands also wheat and corn is used to make up for the lack of the gel absorbency.
Unfortunately you can' get away from SAP when using disposables but at least Earths Best is taking these steps and have come up with a better option by introducing wheat and corn to the absorbent. Can your national diaper brand say that?
With Earths Best Tender Care you can feel good about the choices you've made and now you know what is in the national brand diapers and I truly, openly, honestly hope you try these diapers.
When it comes to disposables and believe me I've been approached by those national/commercial brands and I won't have them on my blog unless they change some things about their diapers but when I heard from Earths Best, I was more than happy to have them on Everything Mom and Baby because I've experienced their diapers in the past and I know what is put into them and now you do to.
Earths Best also make alcohol and chlorine free wipes. They are enriched with Aloe Vera, Vitamin E and water to cleanse naturally and safe for the hands and face.
Those same commercial brands do use alcohol, parabens preservatives and/or synthetic ingredients.
Talk about toxic overload, why oh why?
Earths Best is having a contest to win a years worth of diapers, enter here at change your diaper and you can download a $3.50 coupon for your next diaper purchase.
Lets hear from you!
I hope you found this article informative. What do you use? What are your thoughts about the chemicals that are put into brand name diapers? Would you be interested in trying Earths Best after reading my article?
*Disclaimer: Earths Best did contact me as they are currently having a contest to win a years worth of diapers and I, the blog owner have allowed Earths Best be on my blog to help get the word out. My opinion is not influenced in any form. I am NOT compensated for promoting the Earths Best brand.
