Baby Comfy Nose~Nasal Aspirator
Friday, September 24, 2010
With little ones and stuffy noses what's a mama and a papa to do? Cold and Flu season is around the corner and new parents out there you may want to look for something like this.
I never knew a thing like this even existed until I got contacted for a review and giveaway.
My son hasn't been sick so we haven't used it but I am sure glad I have this!
A dear friend of mine is Russian and from Kazakhstan. Last year when our little ones were just well...little ones they were getting the occasional stuffy nose and we started to discuss what would we do to relieve their congestion. I'm thinking a steam, Niaouli essential oil on my diffuser, something homeopathy related not what she was about to tell me.
She told me that back home when she was little so lets say early 70's, parents didn't have these things like the Baby Comfy Nose and being in "the old country" parents would put their mouth to their baby's nose and suck it out! Um.......GROSS! But being parent you would anything right?
Thank god it's 2010 and North America and there's something called the nasal aspirator by Baby Comfy Nose.
For sure to come in handy when your child has a stuffy nose, learn the FAQ.
Here's a video to understand more:
This comes in Tangerine and Blue and I have a Blue one to giveaway, this is a weekend giveaway so it's over on Sept.26/10, Sunday 6pm EST.
Leave me a comment here telling me why you want to win one!
Open to where ever you live! I am sending it out. Good Luck!

Here's a little tidbit about Amber and it's healing properties from Green Baby Clothing Company:
Baltic amber teething necklaces are made for wearing (not chewing) when a baby is teething. The warmth from the skin releases the active ingredient in the Baltic amber, succinic acid. Recent scientific research has proved that succinic acid has a very positive influence on the human body. It improves immunity and the balance of acids when absorbed into the bloodstream, it stimulates the thyroid glands to help reduce drooling and soothes red inflamed cheeks. Amber's anti-inflammatory and therapeutic properties are recognised by allopathic medicine as a natural analgesic, which will help to relieve teething pain and calm a baby without resorting to drugs. The skin's warmth releases healing oils from the amber, a resin, which is absorbed into the bloodstream.

Children's Trunk Show, Toronto,ON, Oct.1-2, 9:30am-4pm
Thursday, September 16, 2010
Mark your calendars Toronto families!
Bring your kids, grandma gets in free, meet friends and make a day of it at next months Children's Trunk Show! It's time to shop, shop, shop. Here's their vendor list, with 11 new vendors and it's awesome!
Saturday sounds like a great time to go(I'll pop by on Friday because it'll be T.G.I.F for me) and I am sad that I have to work(oh to be in high demand!) on Saturdays because of all the great family weekend things to do, plus grandma's flying in from Winnipeg(YAY!) for Chunkles 2nd Birthday so we'll miss being Saturday...and on Saturday Brick Works has their infamous Farmers Market (from 8am-1pm) !
Just some of the coolest ways to get there, on Saturday starting at 9am and every half hour go to Chorley Park(in Rosedale) and have a guided "Indian Summer" walk through Toronto's beautiful ravine's. Meet at the top of the path leading into Ravine(not stroller friendly because there's stairs but that's what baby carriers are for!) It is a stunning walk as I did this last week and there is stairs going down which is how I learned that it's not stroller friendly.
Massages will be given out by Sunny Mummy Spa on Saturday from 11am-2pm
My favorite yummy mummy, Lilian Philipson-Webb of Sprout Right will be there on Friday and you seriously need to pick up her book, I hope she'll have it for sale as it is a must have for moms to be and moms all the way up to toddlerhood for great advice and recipes.
Alyson Schafer will also be there on Friday from 10am-2pm so have your questions ready!
Want tickets? Pop over and join me on Facebook, first 4 to tell me they want a ticket on Facebook gets one!

Well, schools started....how do you feel?
Well, mine hasn't started but I can already tell you how handy this lunch bag has been for us. Charlie Banana-Hot New Product
Friday, September 10, 2010
What can I tell you about this new cloth diaper company?
Charlie who? Charlie Banana.
You may not know this hybrid diaper now, but you will because in my experience this is one of the best.
Even my husband who is normally oblivious to these kinds of things commented on how these were the best cloth diapers we have ever used.
Why?
After the first wash on the first night with my Charlie wearing them, NO LEAK!
A perfect fit for us in their sized diapers, no marks as they were nice and snug.
My two biggest issues with cloth diapers have not occurred with this brand.
Speaking with Gaelle, the creator of Charlie Banana, I was also informed that they get MORE absorbent by the 4-5th wash. Really? They were perfect after the first one!
I found the Black, Retro Rocket and Truck diaper, sized Large to fit my toddler the best. The One Size may be better for a smaller/average baby but my son is a tall toddler and for me to buy the size Large makes more sense. Also the nice back wide elastic is very comfy and gives the diaper a trim fit and on the one size it is also nice to point out that the front pocket covers the elastic adjustment so you have no elastic popping!
Well, if want to know and see more watch this from Dirty Diaper Laundry
Charlie Banana is also involved in Operation Smile, a worldwide medical charity organization that changes the lives of children with a cleft lip and other facial deformities.
Charlie Banana donates 1% of sales to Operation Smile.
A variety of products are available from Charlie Banana. Baby Leg Warmers, Swim Diapers, Tote Bag(aka wet bag: the best I've used) Wipes(the softest, absorbent organic wipes I have ever used), Change Pads, Mattress Pads, Underwear, Feminine products for moms, the list goes on with what's in store with Charlie Banana!
They will be found online at Amazon.com
and will be at Babies R Us (US), Target and other sites in the near future.
In Canada you can order them through my site, Everything Mom and Baby.
I am the first in Canada selling these diapers, that I am proud of because I know when something is good and if it's not here already I have to make it happen so others can enjoy.

Here's my super hero, in the ever so popular Black Sized!
The Laundry Tarts!
Are you ready for the most deliciously scented dessert inspired goody that won't leave an inch of bulge around your waist, hips and thighs? Oh, Innisfil, Ontario you are good....you a VERY good to this Torontonian.
How about if I told you about a wonderful laundry detergent that is scented after those delicious desserts?
What the heck is Mama Ash talkin' about?
Not only does your home smell like a bakery but it's zero guilt and 100% addictive to use for all your laundry. Any cloth diapering folks here? Well, lets just say this is just as good for cloth diapers as any other soap you use....but BETTER. Believe me I've used every powdered detergent under the sun for my sons cloth diapers and laundry that these come in my top list of must haves for eco, chemical free cleaning.
Live out in the country and have a septic tank? No problem, it's safe. Hard water or Soft water? The Laundry Tarts is good with all of the above and all types of washing machines.
After all I am a blogging mom so I get to try lots of goodies and this makes my top list, when I get my Seal of Approval badge made, this is so getting one. Even though I got this to review, I am giving my honest opinion. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't endorse it.
I've been using this detergent for a month now and it cleans, softens and does such a great job. I've used them for cloth diapers as well and they are white, clean and well....just friggin great!
It comes in one Unscented version called Plain Jane and five other scents such as Key Lime Pie, Vanilla Dulce, Black Forest Cake, Cinnamon Buns and newest scent Oatmeal Almond.
It is lightly scented, so if you are sensitive to scents it is truly gentle and your clothes will smell clean and neutral.
You don't need those added chemicals and preservatives to have a better wash. A little goes a long way with these detergents.
So who are The Laundry Tarts?
Jessy Cooke NHP, CNC, CHN, RNPA, CI, CH
Michelle Waithe BASC, RHN, PTS
Along with friend and business partner Jessy, The Laundry Tarts was developed on the philosophy that a healthy lifestyle requires a positive, optimistic mindset, a nutritionally dense whole food diet, exercise, and a toxin free environment. Along with creating their own natural laundry detergent this passion has evolved into an Eco and Holistic Health Coaching endeavor as a way to pass on loving guidance and their combined wealth of knowledge to others so that they may also start living the best life ever. The beautiful friendship that has evolved between Michelle and Jessica is undeniable and evident in the passion they bring to everything that they do as a team.
What's in their soap and what does all that bad stuff mean that they don't use?
The Good Stuff:
Where to buy? Buy online! As addictive as cloth diapering is so is buying the best detergents, but this is great for the whole family.

What's in their soap and what does all that bad stuff mean that they don't use?
The Good Stuff:
Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), Sodium Carbonate (Soda Wash), Sodium Percarbonate (Powdered hydrogen peroxide) Sea salt, Saponified coconut/canola oil, rosemary extract, phthalate free essential and fragrance oils.
The Bad Stuff:
You will not find Chlorine: Chlorine is very irritating to the skin. It dries out the skin's natural oils and can cause rashes, hives, soreness and irritation to the eyes, lungs and mucus membranes.
You will not find Phosphates: Excess phosphorus into rivers, lakes and fresh water can offset the delicate balance of biology and produce an excess of algae and bacteria, making water inhabitable for aquatic life, unsuitable for swimming or ingesting.
You will not find Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulphate (SLS/SLES): Unfortunately SLS/SLES, is a skin irritant and is absorbed into the skin very easily. Like many other commercial ingredients, it is also a xenoestrogen, making it's way to the bloodstream and causing hormonal imbalances in the body.
You will not find Parabens: Parabens are the most well known of xenoestrogens, possibly because it is so commonly used in deodorants, body creams, sun lotions, hair dye, makeups.
You will not find Phthalates: Phthalates can be irritating to asthma sufferers, cause headaches, migraines, dizziness and are being linked to disrupting hormone levels, feminizing males in the womb and blocking natural hormone receptors in females.

Recipe of the Day for Toddlers-BananaNini Muffins
Thursday, September 9, 2010
Looking in the kitchen I noticed I had 3 over ripened banana's and 2 zucchini's that needed to be used for something other than the garbage bin.
My tot loves these and they are nice snack for on the go. I hope you like them, they are super moist because of the banana but I have a green and yellow from the rainbow.
What am I talking about? Rainbow? Click here

When life gets busy, we try to feed our little ones the best but sometimes we don't always give them the required amounts of fruit and veggies and stick with the usual plate of food.
I've been there.

What's a first time Mom to do? Moving from Crib to Toddler Bed....
Friday, September 3, 2010
If I could take pictures I would of my sweet little boy waking up from his nap with a leg straddled over the crib trying to get out while shouting "Mom!".
It's done in an instant, he wakes and wants out and I come running to see his sweet little face, red with angst and a leg hanging over. I'll be going about my day around the home and think "Charlies going to wake up" and within 5 minutes he's stirring. It never fails me.
Apparently this is the time is to consider the transition from crib to bed.
Also time for this mom to transition that her little "baby" who is 23 months is not a "baby" but a little person, growing and developing into himself and now it's the next phase.
I can't let go but I have to and I have huge, I mean huge baby fever #2. Every time I hear a new baby or see a newborn I swear I lactate and my uterus aches.
But how do you transition from crib to toddler bed and what new issues will arise?
Okay I have the convertible crib but I can't fit in to it to start a new bedtime routine like reading a bedtime story and sitting up in bed with him.
Do I skip the toddler bed rails and go to day bed or do I go straight to big kid bed with the netting rails so I can lay there with him and read a book? Looking at this picture to the right looks unreasonable and I think I should go to the day bed. Oh I don't know!
Just as we got the sleeping routine down over a year ago we have a whole new realm of issues to begin to understand as our toddlers get older such as "Nasty Thoughts", the nursery term for a kind of half sleep nightmare (from stories or what is seen on TV), then there's actual nightmares, night terrors, sleep talking, waking in the night and early waking. If I could recommend a book do get this:
Penelope Leach: Your Baby and Child from Birth to Age 5
should you have any issues. This is a phenominal book with a matter of fact approach to parenting.
But I need help with the the transition. What does Dr.Sears say? I couldn't find much in my baby bible, Baby Book
but I see in the near not too distant future this recommendation maybe working:
pg 365:"Play dead. Pretend to sleep, lie next to baby and play dead, baby will eventually join you in slumber" Sounds lovely doesn't it?
As soon as we transition we will keep you posted on our qualms and let you know what works for us.
I am scared, I am dreading this.......Hello new chapter in Parenthood.
