Reebok Crossfit ~ Where "I can't" becomes "I can" and "I did"!

Thursday, March 22, 2012

When I was asked to give a class at Reebok Corssfit Liberty Village a go I was thinking to myself "NO WAY!"
I saw the commercials and thought no way I can do that!  However I kept watching it and the music got me pumped to go.  I was preparing myself mentally.

After all I am kinda out of shape, thanks to working with FITMOM she is getting my butt in gear and I was nervous (I have 50pds I want to lose) and I was thinking I may not be able to keep up with everyone else.  But then I thought...why am I thinking like this? I am working out and getting healthy. Stay positive.

Well first things first I was super pumped and excited after getting there.   I had the mind set that I can do it.
First we were given awesome Reebok gear.  If you need new runners you have to get Reebok's RealFlex Transition runners! I wear them everywhere and they make working out much better because they are so flexible.  They help promote the natural movement of your feet and you move around so easily.  The comfort in these are crazy!

So after we got in our gear and we all introduced ourselves, everyone was health orientated and I was working out with some fit people!
We met our trainer, Jordan who is the co-owner of the gym, he made me feel so welcome and at ease.
We went through awesome stretches and the exercises before the actual drill.  What was I so afraid of?

Here's the WOD(Work Out of the Day)
The Dirty 30 everything had to be done in 10 minutes....
30 Box jumps, which can be done in 3 ways depending on your fitness level. I had my laying on the lowest "setting"

30 Jumping Pull Ups.  Us gals stood on boxes and jumped and did our chin ups. I loved it!
(No, it's not an S&M chamber, LOL!)

30 Kettlebell Swings.  I so want a kettle bell now!
Works your whole body.
I used the pink ones.
30 Walking LungesWe had to have knee to floor.....hard! Great quad workout.

30 Wall Balls

We had to do a low squat and throw an 8pd balls up to the white marker

and finished with 30 Burpee's!
At the end, I loved the stretching.  It felt like I was getting a massage with these rolling tubes!
I felt victorious at the end and it brought out the child in me.
I used to be able to do this stuff when I was a kid.
I was awesome at sit ups and pull/chin ups. I had to be the last going strong. When we were doing sit ups in gym class I had to be the last to finish, when we were doing chin ups, I remember looking my competitor in the eye and I waited for him to give up before I would. I ran track and field and came in first, many times.  Writing this I had no idea I was so competitive!
I'll never forget back at U of M, we had a competition and I came in first with the running long jump beating the males as well. My teacher, Mr. Theissen was so proud of me.
This was junior high mind you but I could see myself getting competitive again with Cross Fit.

We all finished relatively all at the same time. Even me!  I was sweating up a storm and it felt so good doing the Dirty 30. I left class feeling so good and with a smile.  It was such a wonderful experience and we all had a good time. I highly, highly recommend it.  Please check it out.
The next day I was sore. Today I am feeling a little better but I also did FITMOM yesterday! I am a workout power horse!  I love it, I love it, I love it!!  It is such a good feeling.  Find a CrossFit gym near you!
I want to be fit and healthy for my kids and chase them around without being winded. I want my kids to remember me being active not being the one sitting and watching them play without me.  Life is too short.

So amazing and you did it! Always, always try and see the positive side of things, it's much better than the alternative. This is so up my alley for the challenge it presents. Good for you!

Oh my goodness I want to try that! Here in our little town Crossfit has yet to surface but after that review I might just have to make the drive to a city close by and try it! I'm very fit and would love the chance to really challenge myself and my body.

The shoes look great! I haven't bought a pair of decent runners for myself in years - I think these would inspire me to be active more often.

You have 50lbs you want to lose? You CAN do it! Stay positive and don't let negativity get in your way. I've lost 72lbs so far and if I can get rid of it, so can you!

These shoes sound amazingly comfortable! I could really use them for when I ride my recumbant bike!

Thanks for a great review!

Very impressive. I have the same feeling about Cross Fit that you did. So worried that I am not in good enough shape to try it out, but after your review maybe I will have to check it out and see what all of the hype is about. Thanks for sharing.
