Charlies favorite books of the week: Back to School reading & learning

Friday, September 14, 2012

It's been a week of Back to School and here are some great books that Charlie loves to look at and learn from.

This is a fun activity book.  When you open it up the book turns into a school house with classroom and playground.
It's a fun all in book. Play, read and learn.  It come with 6 play pieces and three books so your little one can learn about shapes, colour fun and numbers.  With a mix of education and activities and play you're little one will have fun with this and learn with Curious George.

This book has been a hit well before Charlie started JK.  It comes with stickers, magnetic animals, homework sheets, a write on/wipe off marker, magnetic patterns and block and is loaded with activities.  Your child can learn telling time, learn the alphabet, learn about weather, anatomy, story time, counting to 100 and so much more.  It's a great activity book and perfect for rainy days play.

When your child starts to get into play groups, start daycare or even JK you and your child will come across a lot different personalities.  I am sure there is always one hitter or biter in the group.  This is a cute book that will hopefully teach your child that hands are not for hitting but for eating, clapping your hands, snapping your fingers in a song, playing a board game, making shapes and lots more.
As they read along, children will discover how to respond to their emotion in a helpful way and not hurtful.
Kids with Autism struggle to make friends.  We have a friend who's son has been diagnosed with Autism and this book has been great for Charlie to learn compassion and understanding.
This book is a story about Matt.  Having autism doesn't stop him from having fun and his friend can teach your child to help navigate during certain social situations and turn frustrating moments into fun moments.  It really is a beautiful book to help your kids along and to learn about Autism.

What great choices! I think my boys could use a copy of Hands are Not For Hurting for themselves! LOL

We have the "Words are not for Hurting" book but I think the hands one needs to go on the list. My two year old is starting to take up hitting :(
