New Favourite Find: The Pumpkin Seed Skincare

In case you don’t know I am a skincare junkie!  I love coming across quality brands made with good ingredients and that actually benefit the skin.

The Pumpkin Seed is made locally in Whitby, ON by Rebecca O.  The Pumpkin Seed creates 100% natural skincare products using quality ingredients without harsh chemicals as there is no place for such toxic preservatives and scents for your delicate skin and for your child’s skin as well.
The Pumpkin Seed makes their products in small batches to ensure freshness and quality. Does it get more personal than that in offering fresh skincare?

I was sent the following products to review and I loved it so much I decided to carry it in my e-shop.  So here’s my review. You’ll see my Seal on the ones that stood out to me the most.  I love the whole line but the ones with the seal are my favourites and I think you’ll like them too.

                                                      Natural Calendula Healing Salve $11.00

Why I like it? The ingredients, it works and the benefits of the ingredients are stellar.  My son has a habit of over licking his lips and ends ups getting a rash.  This heals and soothes through out the day.
Ingredients:  Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Beeswax, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Extract, Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender) Buds Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract.
*Certified Orgranic

The Benefits?  It’s very therapeutic for the skin.  Calendula is healing to certain skin conditions such as eczema, minor burns and promotes wound healing.  It’s safe for infants as well.  Olive oil as well high in Vit.E promotes skin elasticity and if you had a tear while delivering your infant I bet this would work great in speeding up the healing process in perineum tears and healing c-section incisions.
Why I like it?  It is AMAZING!!!!!!  I love the creamy mouse like texture of it as I slather it over my pregnant belly.  A little goes a long way and it leaves me glowing in a non greasy way. This gets my Seal for Approval for sure as it stood out the most for me.  All moms to be should be stocking up on this.
Ingredients: Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Butter, Rosa Mosqueta (Rosehip) Fruit Oil*, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Tocopherol(Vitamin E)
*Certified Organic
The Benefits? Shea butter, Grapeseed oil, Pumpkin Seed Butter are all nutritious fatty acids for the skin and prevents the skin from stretching cause those lovely stripes. You either love them or hate ’em.  I prefer to take care of my skin and feed it the food it rightfully needs to keep it healthy and not dry and itchy.  Pumpkin Seed Butter is also loaded with minerals(zinc, iron & copper), high in Vit E as well as the others and rich in Omega 3 and 9.
Why I like it?  It’s a nice alternative the homeopathic gel which can be too cold for little ones as my son prefers this over the gel.  Great for bumps and bruises!
Ingredients:  Ingredients: Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Beeswax, Arnica Cordifolia Flower Extract *Certified Organic
The Benefits? We know Olive Oil is extremely healing to the skin. Arnica is another herb that is known for its pain relieving benefits, helps to increase circulation and regenerates tissue repair therefore an anti-inflammatory healing salve.

                                                   Natural Lavender Lip Balm $6.00

Why I like it?  I love it!  I love the hint of rosy loveliness it gives my lips.  I never leave home without it as it gives my complexion a healthy boost as well thanks to my lightly tinted lips.
Ingredients: Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil*, Beeswax*, Honey*, Alkanna Tinctoria Root powder, Tocopherol, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil
*Certified Organic
The Benefits: All nourishing ingredients to keep those lovely lips moisturized and kissable.  I love that honey and beeswax are in the ingredients as it’s bonus vitamins for the lips.
Why I like it?  Well love should be the word as it’s one of the best cleaning grain facial products I’ve used.  I’ve used a few from other lines like Lush and Anointment and what sets The Pumpkin Seed apart from the others is it’s really fine, softer to smooth into the skin and to exfoliate.  I like the feel of it when water is added and find that it goes on the skin evenly.
Ingredients:  Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Meal*, Kaolin, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Seed Meal, Calendula Officinalis Flower, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender)flower, Myristica fragrans(Nutmeg)
*Certified Organic and Gluten-free
The Benefits:  Well, it’s nice to use this 3 times a week as it is exfoliating yet gentle but does promote gentle skin cell turnover.  You’ll find when using this regularly you’re moisturizer will penetrate better into the skin and do what’s supposed to as it has a smoother ‘canvas’ to get into.
All of the grains used are gentle on the skin and non reddening so it’s very gentle.  Oat is great for reducing redness and for sensitive skin.  If you use Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant, this is much better and better on the pocket.
What I like about it?  Well I’m a big fan of oils for the face because of the clean ingredients and real nourishment it provides.  Even oily skin types can use this as it won’t make your skin oilier.  If anything it might actually help balance it out! Seriously.  I’ve treated many oily skin types by getting their skin back in balance after years of them stripping their skin therefore making their skin oilier.  But this is a lovely anti-aging night oil and it penetrates right into the skin.  Don’t worry about greasy pillow cases with this.  Have super dry skin? Use this as a serum (a $16 serum!) and apply your regular moisturizer.
The ingredients:  Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil*, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil*, Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil*, symphytum officinale (comfrey) leaf extract, rosa damascena (rose) flower extract
*Certified Organic
The Benefits:  As stated earlier, Olive oil is high in Vit.E, Rose Casina(aka: Rosehip) is also high in Vit E but also anti-inflammorty, it provides a nice light texture to the oil and is great in soothing ‘allergic’ type skins. Great for Rosacea skin types too!  Might even help to reduce pigmented scars on the face.  Comfrey also reduces inflammation and helps keep the skin healthy.  This serum is
“get healthy skin in a bottle”.
So I’ve shared with you my top faves from The Pumpkin Seed.  There’s more to explore like her creamy natural deodorants, to more lips balms and recently listed Apple Cider facial toner.
I hope you’ve enjoyed learning about this line as I went a little deeper with my product knowledge as an Eshtetician and if you know someone with hyper sensitive skin, eczema, rosacea just to name a few please suggest this super affordable skin care line.  It’s truly lovely and great find!  I should add that a friend of mine purchased The Natural Body Butter to treat her infants eczema and these are her words:  Amazing products!!! Body butter is really clearing up eczema on my baby! “
