Happy Earth Day!  Do your little ones know about the significance in Earth Day?  My son is at the age now that he can sit and watch a movie.  But can he watch a documentary? Well we sat down yesterday to watch Addicted to Plastic.  My son who is 5 1/2  sort of understands now why I buy glass bottles and avoid plastic as much as possible but he didn't last too long, lol!  It's a point of view style of documentary and seeing how much plastic debris in accumulated is rather depressing. Plastic made from plants was what my son found super interesting so do check it out.  We also watched  The Blue Planet.  It is beyond fascinating! The underwater photography is something else.

Kids can start to better appreciate the planet by learning something new from one of their favourite characters especially if they are into characters like Diego in the Go Diego Go episode “Rescue of Red-Eyed Tree Frogs,” or Elmo in the Sesame Street episode “The Camouflage Challenge.”
I personally enjoyed the documentaries about how to eat green and healthy as a family with our “educate yourself” farm-to-fork inspired list.  I LOVE Food Inc and Vegucated is another eye opener.

For older kids why not sit down and watch as family these EarthDay hits, either way there is always something new to learn:
  1. The Blue Planet: A Natural History of the Oceans
  2. Moving Art: Oceans
  3. A Sea Change
  4. Chasing Ice
  5. Queen of the Sun: What Are the Bees Telling Us?
  6. Addicted to Plastic
  7. David Attenborough: Wildlife Specials
  8. The Hole Story
For the littles at home check out this list from NetFlix:

  1. Curious George: Mulch Ado About Nothing / Gets a Trophy
  2. Go Diego Go: Rescue of Red-Eyed Tree Frogs
  3. Bubble Guppies: Boy Meets Squirrel
  4. Dinosaur Train: Stargazing on the Night Train / Get Into Nature
  5. Sesame Street: The Camouflage Challenge
  6. Wild Animal Baby Explorers: Beaks and Bills / The Mighty Oak Tree
Remember how I said I loved watching doc's on eating green and healthier?  Here are just a couple but "Hungry for a Change" is another must watch.

  1. Vegucated
  2. Farmageddon
  3. Food, Inc.
I hope to hear from you! Have you watched any of these documentaries

If you love doing crafts check out this EarthDay Elmo inspired craft and have fun today. Looking for a healthy green snack to snack on while watching some "Green TV", Asparagus Fries is delish!

I have not heard of any of those movies.. I can say we recycle our bottles all the time, with reusing them over and over..

I think this is great especially for earth day. We do recycle our plastic containers, but unfortunately they don't take the glass bottles, those have to go in the trash. I do keep as many glass containers and reuse them as I can, but keeping anymore than I need would be hoarding. I think recycling companies need to get on board and accept glass bottles too. I'd much rather recycle them.

Too bad I don't have Netflix subscription. I love watching documentaries. We recycle soda cans but not plastic bottles. Maybe I should start doing it
