Iced Coffee with Cocoa and Hemp Hearts

I was craving something sweet and I wanted an extra boost of energy on this cloudy Wednesday here in Toronto.  I could feel the slump starting to happen especially since I didn’t get much sleep last night.  At 4 am I was lying in bed awake. I decided to paint my nails of all things, scroll through Instagram, update a European page I manage the account for, submit orders from my online baby carrier shop and finally I reached for my Lavender Oil, took some deep breaths and slowed my breathing down and dozed off to bed around 5:30 am. AH!

My son just left to go back to school from his lunch break and before I run errands I wanted a little extra something.  I am craving sweet, I am craving caffeine and I want chocolate.  I went to the kitchen to look.  I saw I had coffee left in the French Press, I saw I had MCT oil, Organic Cocoa, MH Hemp Hearts, Vanilla, Collagen powder and honey. Hmmm…..what can I make? Iced Coffee with Cocoa and Hemp Hearts sounded pretty darn good to me.

MochaHempDrinkThis is all pretty healthy. I need the good fat and estrogen balancing hemp hearts, my Collagen powder to help my joints, cocoa well, I love chocolate so what’s not to love about this super easy beverage.  Here’s the recipe:

Iced Coffee with Cocoa and Hemp Hearts

  1. 1/2 cup of Hemp hearts
  2. 1 cup of coffee
  3. 2 cups of water
  4. 1 tsp of vanilla
  5. 1 tbsp of Collagen Powder ( I use one from Progressive)
  6. 2 tbsp of honey
  7. 1 tsp of MCT oil or Coconut oil
  1. Blend it all together for about 2 minutes. Store in fridge for up to three days.
  2. Play around with the amount of sweetness if you like, add more coffee if you need to and top with ice.
