The Clean Beauty Awards! Discover natural body products for the whole family

I love working with brands and getting to support some of the best in indie skincare.  It was such a treat to be a Clean Beauty Judge for the first time as I got to try out amazing skincare for the body.  I’m going to share with you on how they felt, smelled, worked and healed my skin. I can’t wait to see next month who has won!  Head over to Clean Beauty Awards to see the finalists and meet the other judges as well.

Who is the Clean Beauty Awards?

Now in its 4th year and in partnership with PurPicks, the Clean Beauty Awards celebrates the very best performing products, created with the healthiest ingredients, from around the world. Its goal is to celebrate the power of the clean, or “free from”, beauty movement through this annual Awards, hosted by CertClean and supported by an eminent panel of judges.

1. Goodstuff Botanicals: Gypsy Cream.  Hands down this has been one of the best in natural creams I have used to treat my psoriasis and dry skin.  It’s ultra healing and I use it on the kids too to heal their boo-boo’s.  Check it out.  It worked for me and it might work for you.  When my skin feels extra dehydrated, I use it as my daily moisturizer and skin looks amazing when I do.

“Together, the high-quality, natural ingredients in Gypsy Cream will give your skin what it needs to be happy + healthy + balanced.”

2. OSEA:  Ooo, la, la it’s OSEA and this is their firming seaweed infused body oil. I found the undaria algae oil, rich, even though it states that it’s a lightweight oil on their site.   It just feels decadent when you pour it on your hand and massage it into your slightly damp skin from the shower. I always put body oils on while my skin is still a little wet as I find oils penetrate better into my skin and it spreads more evenly.

Undaria Pinnatifida Extract a brown marine algae rich in iodine, iron, potassium, calcium and vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12. Contains Fucoidan, a particularly hydrating compound that promotes a youthful, plump appearance. Reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also minimizing the appearance of surface redness.

3SIMKHA: From Quebec, this Canadian beauty of whipped up goodness that hydrates your skin is a delight! Shea and Mango butter to feed your skin, rosehip oil(high in Vit.E) the scent of neroli and a hint of lavender and marshmallow powder completes this unique body moisturizer.  Another cream I recommend.

Our moisturizing body balm ‘Sweetness Lorenzo is a blend of Shea-Mango softening and nourishing the skin. It is suitable for normal to dry skin, specially designed for children and the whole family.”

4. Standing Stone Wellness: Creamsicle Body Butter.  My favourite kind of creamsicle as I love the combo of vanilla and orange and I love it even more in a healthy balm for the whole body, although I use this mostly for the dry skin on my feet.  Again, it’s a nice balm and not overly greasy plus it has all the good ingredients.

A rich, but not overly greasy, luscious blend for dry hands, elbows…anywhere! Scented with orange or green tea, these exotic body butters smell heavenly! Kokum butter is known for being soothing, helping to refresh worn skin and improve skin elasticity. Isn’t your body worth a little luxury?

5.BASD: Oh, how I love the invigorating scent of mint first thing in the morning.  Whether it is in a shower gel or moisturizer.  It awakens my senses and adds a great start to the day.  BASD is a great skincare line hailing from Beautiful British Columbia.  The hint of caffeine is a nice touch as well.  It goes on nice and smooth and doesn’t take too much to massage into your skin.  Another great brand worth checking out. Find BASD Invigorating Mint {here}
treat your body to a soft, smooth and hydrating experience every day. this plant-basd lotion, formulated with organic virgin coconut oil and organic shea butter, will leave your skin feeling nourished from your badass head to your renegade toes (plus, the invigorating mint scent is everything). your skin will thank you with firming results and reduced appearance of stretch marks or scarring.”

6. Nightingale Farms Goat Milk Lotion: Their products are made by hand in small batches with care and concern with regard to the methods and ingredients.  I received their Lavender Lemongrass Body Milk, I liked that their lotion contains over 35% goat milk which has a Ph level that is similar to that of human skin. This similarity reduces surface tension and allows for more absorption.   I used to love the scent of Lemongrass but not so much anymore.  I use this more in the summer when we are at the cottage as I find Lemongrass great for keeping buzzing pests at bay.  I can’t remember from my aromatherapy days but I think Lemongrass is related to Cintronella.

“Where fresh air, green grass and tender loving care products and the healthiest animals and the very best farm products”

7. Organic Island:  I received the Nourishing Hand Cream and the packaging is nice, the ingredients are good but I didn’t find it overly hydrating enough for my hands.  I often reapplied.  While it is non-greasy, I think it’s too lightweight for my Canadian dry hands.  Perhaps I need a humidifier in our home to add more moisture?  There could be a couple of factors as to why it didn’t work so great with me.

” Expertly formulated to heal, hydrate and protect your hands, ensuring a more youthful appearance. Non-greasy and lightweight, this superior formula is instantly absorbed, transforming tired, dry skin and leaving hands renewed, soft and supple. Containing advanced active ingredients NOP Organic Lycii Berry, Olive Leaf, Rosehip, Avocado, Vitamin E and Macadamia. ”

8: Okanagan Lavender & Herb Farms: This is a great Lavender hand and body salve, actually one I always have on me for various reasons as it is extremely effective.  I don’t like the tin that it comes in because it can be difficult to open as it always is with those style of tin containers but I use it for my kids when they get a boo-boo, something to hydrate and calm them after bath.  I have even used it as an effective deodorant and it healed a weird rash I had with one of my armpits.  I want their Calendula Body Butter!  It’s a beautiful site I hope you’ll visit.  Their teas look amazing as well.  I will be a regular customer for sure. This and the Gypsy Cream from GoodStuff are my absolute favourite.
