The Shoebox Project: The 2018 Holiday Gift Drive

The Holiday Gift Drive is in full force this year!   Have you heard about The Shoebox Project? I wanted to share something with you today that is truly special amongst all the holiday giveaways I am running this year.   Please note, that this is not a sponsored post and if you are looking to do something meaningful either as a family or individually, I hope you’ll join me in creating a Shoebox for women in need.  Make it a girls night and get your gals together and make boxes together this holiday season.  Instead of a hostess gift have friends bring something to contribute to the box or have them each make their own.  You can find boxes even at the Dollar store if you don’t have any lying around and get some cute wrapping paper too.   This can be done all over Canada too, find drop off locations here.

Join the @ShoeboxCanada this holiday season as they collect and deliver gifts of love to thousands of Canadian women impacted by homelessness! #lovewhatsinside Click To Tweet

What is the Shoebox Project for Women?  I’ve never heard of it.
The Shoebox Project for Women, supported by Dream, collects and distributes gift-filled Shoeboxes to women impacted by homelessness in communities across Canada and the US.  Each thoughtfully created and decorated Shoebox is filled with items valued at $50 that can enhance self-esteem and reduce feelings of isolation for women in need.

What you should put in a Shoebox?

Why should I contribute and donate a Shoebox?

Because it’s for women who have been displaced from their homes and estranged from their families, the holidays can be a particularly challenging time. Often, women feel disconnected from society, forgotten and alone. Reducing the feelings of isolation and loneliness faced by women living in shelters is one of the most important outcomes of The Shoebox Project. A Shoebox gift is a powerful reminder for a woman that she has not been forgotten and that she remains a valued and respected member of her community..”

What would you put in the Shoebox if you have the opportunity?  Please visit the Suggestions {here} and if you need a little inspiration check out The Shoebox Project on Instagram & Facebook.
boxfilledwebSince 2011, @ShoeboxCanada has distributed over 130,000 Shoeboxes, valued at over 6.5 million dollars. Join in helping to ensure that ALL women in Canada are valued, respected and treated with dignity and compassion. #lovewhatsinside Click To Tweet

This is such a great job. My team supported them last year for the first time, and we’ll be doing it again this year.

I remember doing this when I was in school, and then my girls had to do this as well when they were in school, it’s an awesome thing to do, and such a great idea!!

A great idea – Similar to Basketeers which our organization partakes in each year. This year all employees donated enough to fill over 50 laundry baskets for displaced women and children:)
