Breville Risotto Plus ~ Cooks risotto, rice, steams and it is a SLOW COOKER!

I have been meaning to tell you about the Breville Risotto Plus for ages! However my twins made their debut early and I am catching up now.   In fact every new mom to be should have this because its compact enough to sit on your kitchen counter and when you’re in your newborn haze and need to make breakfast/lunch/dinner this works as a slow cooker as well!
Just throw in your recipe, set and walk away.

Speaking of just walking away when I first tried the Risotto setting I was so happy and amazed. Do you cook risotto on the stove top? You know it takes some work and you have to be there to stir and stir. Well as a mom who has the time for that? Especially when your kids are younger and you have crying babies to feed. As in my case.
I used their recipe(yes, the Risotto Plus comes with a little book of recipes) I made their signature Risotto Milanese which is just a basic risotto dish consisting of garlic, onion, butter, white wine and chicken stock.
I followed the directions and set the Breville Risotto Plus and walked away. 20 minutes later dinner was ready! Ready!  It was perfect. I was actually truly amazed that it cooked the risotto perfectly.
I’ve moved on to cooking sprouted grains and slow cooking.  The Breville Risotto Plus is a must have in the kitchen.  I can even cook sushi rice in this!  My next experiment will be making sushi.

The dish pictured below is one I made up. I sauteed(yes that’s a feature in the Risotto Plus) onions and orange peppers, added my sprouted rice mix of organic wild rice, red rice, brown rice and quinoa. It cooked perfectly. I then added my chicken and crumbled goat cheese. This was divine and so easy!

I would also try the basic, but sounds super yummy,Risotto Milanese! I would love to own their custom load bread machine also!

Rissotto of course!! I love the stir free rissotto feature. I have never made my own risotto. I always buy the PC brand and it’s so good. If I had this I would try making my own with some fall squash.

I really like that you can sauté with it. One of the first things I’d use it for is Pilaf.

I love the risotto feature and I think I’d try a mushroom risotto first!

I love how its a no stir risotto maker as I make risotto at home and have 2 young kids and one is a baby so I know now hard it is to do it all. I would like to try my risotto recipe in this! It’s a mushroom, shallots, olive oil, butter, onions in broth (I switch the flavor often) risotto.

I love the keep warm setting – during the week it can be so hard to coordinate dinner times and nobody wants to eat cold or microwaved leftovers after a long day – this feature would solve that problem in a snap!

  191. Megan Barnecutt | 11th Aug 13

I would absolutely post a photo of the prize if I won – I’d probably post several photos of all the yummy goodies and scrumptious meals I would prepare with it!

  192. Shari Ironside | 12th Aug 13
