The cutting edge philosophy of Clayton Shagal skincare #madeinCanada #myclaytonshagal

I first started using Clayton Shagal about 20 years ago, when I was in aesthetics school back in Toronto. Across the street from my school was a lovely French spa and I was going in for facials to check it all out.  I’ve been using the whole line now consistently for about 8 months and I absolutely love the appearance of my skin.  I’m still working on those fine lines around my eyes but the Collagen Gel is my absolute favourite from the whole skin care line.  I even use it after I have my micro needling.  La Maison Clayton Shagal has followed the premise that the true essence of skin care is based on respecting the skin’s natural major components: collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and water.

A little about La Maison Clayton Shagal

They are a Quebec business that manufactures, develops and distributes a line of high-end body and skin care products for both women and men. Their headquarters and laboratory are located on Montreal’s North Shore in the province of Quebec, Canada. It was in February of 1980 that company cofounders Ms Lyse Denommé and Mr. Daniel Renaud set out on the business venture that would lead to the Clayton Shagal brand bursting onto the scene of the esthetics market in 1982.
All CLAYTON SHAGAL products are tested by independent specialized laboratories according to the principles of Good Clinical Practices (ICH-GCP) and under the supervision of dermatologists so that they’re guaranteed not to irritate your skin. They also are proud that none of our products are tested on animals which I am thrilled about as well.

What sets them apart?

La Maison Clayton Shagal is an innovative company that combines passion and expertise in research and development to give your skin the very best: the perfect blend of nature and science. The performance of Clayton Shagal exclusive product formulas is beyond compare, thanks to the cutting-edge technology and unique methods developed at La Maison Clayton Shagal, which makes their active ingredients as pure and as powerful as possible.  I can’t wait to tell you about their Collagen Gel!

The products

Something to keep in mind with La Maison Clayton Shagal is thanks to an exclusive macromolecular protein-based formula, their products can enhance the penetration of beneficial ingredients deep into the skin to defy the aging process. Each product is designed to be used alone or with other ingredients to nurture connective tissues and stimulate healthy cell activity.

First the amazing Collagen Gel Plus.
The development of their Collagen Gel composed with a 99% pure non-hydrolyzed acid soluble collagen: the purest form of collagen ever extracted. It can penetrate through the skin all the way to the dermis without any need for injections. It’s a unique product, an a must-have. My jar is now empty as I’ve used it everyday under my moisturizer. It retails for $100 and it’s a powerful product that repairs and regenerates your skin.  After my micro needling treatments at work, I apply it after 48 hrs.  It helps repair the loss of elasticity in your skin, it regenerates and hydrates all the way down to the dermis.  It’s light weight gel based and absorbs quickly in your skin.
Another reason I love it and think it’s a must have in your beauty cabinet?  It accelerates skin recovery after burns, injuries, scars, and procedures such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion or laser treatments.

Next up a lovely and gentle Cleansing Milk.
This has been an excellent cleanser to use for my skin now that the cold weather is here in Winnipeg.  It cleanses and removes all my makeup in one easy step and one cleanse only.  Because it’s water soluble is easy to rinse off with no residue as some cleansing milks do leave behind. I don’t need to use a toner afterwards as it maintains my hydrolipidic barrier on the top of my skin(aka the epidermis).   The key ingredients are Vitamin E and cocoa butter. A cleanser that is rich in minerals and antioxidants.

The Moisturizing Mask is really neat as it’s gel based.  Its ultimate hydration as it contains fructose which is what makes it almost sticky to the skin as it’s very hydrating with Alanine which is an amino acid that hydrates and softens your skin and Asparatic Acid which is another amino acid that hydrates your skin.  All skin types can use this as well, I find it excellent for clients who even have been suffering with severe acne as the treatments with their dermatologists can be aggressive leaving them with very dehydrated skin.  I find that it soothes and balances in a very gentle way.

Hyaluronic Acid, the star for plumping and hydration.  But this Clayton Shagal Hyaluronic serum does a but more!  It accelerates skin recovery and I have used this in conjunction with my Collagen Plus after micro needling for the best way to give my skin the benefits after such a treatment. It strengthens the outermost layer of the skin (the stratum corneum) by creating a barrier that protects the skin against harmful environmental effects, free radicals, photo aging and oxidative stress.  It stimulates regeneration, contributes to the skin’s cellular growth and hydrates the skin in-depth increasing fibroblast growth.  It is such an important serum I find that you should have in your beauty cabinet.  It’s absolutely amazing.

I normally use chemical exfoliators but sometimes it’s just as nice to use a physical exfoliator and this Bamboo and Honey Exfoliant is gentle with find grinds of bamboo stem extract, honey, Calendula, Algae extract, Mugwort, Avocado and so much more.  It’s rich in vitamins, antioxidants, polypeptides for nourishing your skin while giving it a good exfoliation.

With Christmas around the corner and if you’re curious about trying a luxury, high-end Canadian line that I love and recommend, here are some gift ideas!  Clayton Shagal has beautiful gift cards and boxes for your beauty budget.  Another thing that I like about this skincare line is that it’s not heavily fragranced!   So get shopping and treat yourself to beautiful skin.

Disclosure: I was gifted product from La Maison Clayton Shagal.  All opinions are always my own and never influenced.  My skin loved every product with no irritation, no break out and no inflammation.  I hope you’ll give it a try if you’re looking for something new.
