Delicious Deep Fried Pickles

When I was pregnant with my twins, I craved deep fried pickles.  I never knew how good they were until I had them at a pub for a sampling event and it’s been love ever since.  Last weekend (I always watch The Food Network) and I love Valerie Bertinelli’s show, Valerie’s Home Cooking.  She was doing a show on State Fair food and along with all the amazing snacks she made, she did fried pickles.  I couldn’t believe how easy it was and why I hadn’t made them at home.  My twins love snacking on them too.  I think for my next get together as I hold a lot of them, I’ll be adding this to my table of snacks.

It’s so easy.  Just slice the pickles and pat them to draw some moisture out, I love Nathan’s Half Sour pickles. Season your flour if you’d like, dip them, then the egg then the panko.  I used PC Seasoned Panko bread crumbs and I fried them in……duck fat.  It’s all I had and of course, you can use any oil for frying you want but I prefer animal fats and believe it or not, it may be healthier.  You can do your own research πŸ˜‰  I just bought Ranch dip at Summerhill Market and I bet a Blue cheese dip would be good too!

These ones look so good, I have tried some before and they weren’t good at all and weren’t crispy either

These were crispy and perfect. I tried them at a restaurant and the breading was crumbling off. I’ll have to tell the chef at the Midtown how to make them πŸ˜‰

I love deep fried pickles but I’ve never had much success making them at home. They always turn out too soggy for me. πŸ™

These weren’t soggy at all. I am going to make them again this weekend. I used Nathan’s Half Sour Pickles if that makes a difference?

I’m afraid that pickles, even when not deep-fried aren’t my thing at all.
