February is Heart Health Month. Open wide! #ONaturals

copy-orange_naturals_logoSince February is all about LOVE and Hearts we take heart health very seriously in our home.  On my side of the family heart disease is on my fathers side and he himself had a heart attack 2 years ago.  With my heredity I wish I knew more and better when I started the birth control as I suffered two mini strokes on the pill.  My blood pressure(163/100!) was so high on the pill and at 23 it was not normal.  Thankfully I am have not been on the pill since then and I am heart healthy but stress does make it go up so I need to take a breather every now and then as being  a stay at home is stressful(believe it or not!) and I wish I yelled less.  Stress+Calm from Orange Naturals helps.

Did you know that gum disease and heart disease may go hand in hand? Something my dad also had many years ago as my mom tells me and it was her that told me that the mouth and heart have a connection.
Several species of bacteria that cause periodontitis have been found in the atherosclerotic plaque in arteries in the heart and elsewhere. This plaque can lead to heart attack. Oral bacteria could also harm blood vessels or cause blood clots by releasing toxins that resemble proteins found in artery walls or the bloodstream. The immune system’s response to these toxins could harm vessel walls or make blood clot more easily. It is also possible that inflammation in the mouth revs up inflammation throughout the body, including in the arteries, where it can lead to heart attack and stroke. ” ~ Harvard Health Publications

Colgate has some interesting articles on the matter as well you may want to check out. If peridontal disease is a concern for you and if you are suffering from gum disease I like to add a little drop of Oregno oil on my tooth brush before putting my toothepaste on and I never miss taking their D3 + K2.  Another very important supplement that is under rated to take for heart health is Magnesium.  A lot of us are deficient and we should be taking this mineral daily.  Magnesium calms the nerves.  Do look up the benefits of Magnesium.  Orange Naturals is one of the finest in my opinion because it’s highly absorbable.

I really like how it also has Vitamin K, most people don’t realize you need K to help the D do it’s job 🙂

I’ll have to give this one a try!

I’ve been worried about my blood pressure lately. It was running uncomfortably high for a while. I’ve been making changes to bring it back down.

This a wonderful way to educate people about heart disease and it’s connection with dental care.
It boils down to taking the best care of our mind and body and getting regular, full check up.
Some of us are born with heart defects. Unless we get thoroughly checked for any unusual heartbeat fluttering, we’d never kmow.
