Come join me as I take you through our stay here.  I want to share with you a lovely romantic experience right here in Winnipeg at a beautiful boutique hotel located by the James A. Richardson International Airport. Picture yourself swept away with your partner to a cozy room –  a night alone, especially with room service,  how does that sound? With the recent welcome easing of  Covid restrictions, I can assure you that you will feel safe and relaxed as The Grand Hotel expertly follows all protocols.  With the Valentine weekend so close at hand a little escape just might do you good. You think?

Upon arrival to your room you will have the room service menu waiting for you and as you open the complimentary bottle of Cava (pictured above!) you can relax in your Grand Hotel robe and choose what you’d like for dinner.  The food at all Lakeview properties is simply fabulous.  I think this was the best Surf n’ Turf with roasted red pepper veloute (we ordered take out to bring back to our room) I’ve ever had and my husband scarfed down the scrumptious Beef Stroganoff.  Crispy wings and French onion soup – you bet we had that too! One of the things I look forward to at all Lakeview properties is the food.  Seagulls Restaurant at Gimli is also fantastic. Check it out here.

Now for our room. Comfy, tasteful and Oh! what a view.  We were lying in the warm bed happily full from dinner watching planes come and go.  We had some really valuable ‘us’ time. My husband loved looking out at the prairie landscape and I loved looking at him. Tee Hee. Everything we needed was there, the room was spotlessly clean and welcoming, espcially the walk-in shower. Nice touch!

A piece of local Winnipeg hospitality history can be found in the climate-controlled walkway between the Grand Hotel and the equally beautiful Lakeview Signature Hotel.  This is the nicely appointed Lakeview Museum, a commemoration of all that the company has accomplished in the last 50 years!  It was enlightening and I am proud to work with them after learning more about Lakeview’s history and the family.
After a wonderful sleep, we woke and ordered room service.  I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I have never had room service!  So this was a real treat.  As someone who does all the meal planning, shopping, prepping and cooking I can’t tell you enough how much I love food that is made for me and I don’t have to do a thing. I can see everybody nodding in agreement. Lol!  Breakfast was amazing!  We had a pot of coffee brought up, I ordered Eggs Benedict which is my favourite and my husband ordered an Omelette with hash browns and sausage. Delectable!

Oddly, I am SO hungry now as I finish this post.  I loved their take on the classic hashbrowns.  It was so tasty, so warm, so good!  So, what are your plans again this weekend?  Ah yes, you’re going to the Grand Hotel for their Perfect Escape Romantic Package with prices starting at $150.  It was such a nice night away and the change of atmosphere was exactly what I needed. Oh, did I mention how good the food was?  Happy Valentine’s Day!
