LASPA Sun Care~ Protecting your skin naturally from the sun with mineral sunscreen

I have something to tell you.

I never wear sunscreen. What kind of esthetician am I? I mean, I’ve never found a sunscreen that I liked for my face and body until I discovered LASPA Suncare.  I had a crazy pigmentation spot on my face last summer that drove me crazy.  It’s now gone mind you, but that was my wake up call.  “Erica, you need an SPF.”
I’ve been looking for one to use and I don’t just slap on any type of sunscreen, I care about the ingredients and I’ll never use the drugstore brands.  Sorry.  Don’t like what’s in them.

Since having the twins I’ve found my skin tans/burns a lot quicker than it used to.  Hormones and sun sensitivity is a thing. Then I got this email from a Canadian company that makes a natural SPF called LASPA.  I was intrigued as I always am when it comes to discovering new skin care brands.  They have two types to choose from.  I do like them equally the same, one has an SPF of 20 and the other 30 and for sensitive skin.

LASPA Sun Protection Mineral Sunscreen  SPF 20 is lovely and I love how it goes on and melts into my skin without any icky residue, okay it’s my favourite.

In natural lighting, you’ll see how nice it goes into the skin without any white residue.  It’s a light & translucent.

LASPA Moisturizing Mineral Suncare SPF 30 is a little thicker and creamier with a touch of more white but it blends and melts into the skin and you’re not left looking like Casper.  I’ve massaged this into my husbands bald head and I am happy that I’ve convinced him to switch to a better quality sun care product and I use it on my kids for when I know we’ll be out all day.

After a little massage into my skin, you’ll see it goes on smooth and leaves a very, very faint shadow of white compared to my fingertips.  THIS is for sensitive skin and my little strawberry blonde little girl with her freckles and pale skin this will protect her from burning.

#LASPAsuncare is made with only plant-based ingredients, minerals and essential oils and is without artificial fragrances, colors, or parabens. #BroadSpectrumSuncare #NonToxic #MadeinCanada #SPF Click To Tweet

Using a sunscreen that is labelled Broad Spectrum is important to protect your skin from BOTH forms of UV light that can harm and damage your skin over time.  An SPF sunscreen that is NOT BROAD SPECTRUM only protects you from UVB rays and leaves you exposed to the harmful effects of UVA Rays (such as premature ageing, wrinkles, and pigmentation). A zinc-based mineral sunscreen provides Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection and this is what is so great about LASPA.  It’s made in Canada with plant-based ingredients and you can feel good putting on an SPF cream that is good for your skin as well.  You don’t have to worry about the bad ingredients found in the other guys, like chemical sunscreen ( I call it sunSCARE).  Why? The common ingredients of concern include Oxybenzone, Homosalate, and Octinoxate. Oxybenzone has been associated with developmental and reproductive toxicity, allergies and immunotoxicity, all of which is of greater concern because it also enhances skin absorption. Homosalate is used as a sunscreen agent to absorb UV light. Research shows that as it absorbs UV rays, homosalate will break down into what the Environmental Working Group refers to as harmful byproducts. Octinoxate is considered by The European Commission on Endocrine Disruption to have hormone-mimicking effects.  To learn more about the benefits of mineral suncare, head over {here}.

I am NOT very good at sun screen. I never wear it. That being said, I am not really one to lay out or be outside in the hot and glaring sun for all that long, so I feel like the amount of time I AM in the sun is enough to get the vitamin D benefits and that’s it LOL!

Sounds good to me! I only use it when we are out for long periods of time like cocktails on a patio.

  2. Heather | 22nd May 18

Well I can understand. Some of those sunscreens seem pretty oily and I wouldn’t want to put it on my face. I’m glad they now make SPF lotions that are not greasy. It looks liek really like this stuff, so I might give it a try as well.

Yeah, some can be. This one goes on so nice, I hope my pics show how good it is.

I’m guilty of not applying sunscreen as often as I should, or ever…lol. I do love the sound of this product, all natural and free from toxic chemicals, part of what kept me from reaching for the sunscreen. Nice to know there is something safe to turn to for myself and my family. Made in Canada to boot, love it!
