Merland Park Cottages- Our favourite place to cottage in Prince Edward County

If you’re looking for a cottage to rent this Summer and want to visit Prince Edward County, I highly recommend Merland Park Cottage.  We had a lovely one night stay there as we were driving back from Kingston.  I think it was the most relaxing day for all of us!

We had just gotten off the Glenora Ferry and were driving around thinking we’d stop in Glenora or Picton and as we drove by Merland Park Cottages we saw a vacant sign.  We drove in and I inquired about vacancy as we were met with a warm welcome from Kevin, the owner. We got the last cottage! Hurrah!  Our cottage, The Trout Towers($200/night) was perfect!  It was clean, had everything we needed from air conditioning, a TV and WIFI for after the sun and bunk beds for the kids and a nice queen bed for us.  Have a look inside our cottage {here}

Walleye, Trout, Pike just to name a few and great boating with nature’s beauty.  You can rent a boat, canoe or kayak even!
You’re a 10min drive to Picton and all the local attractions such as craft breweries and wineries and may your foodie dreams come true as you discover the culinary delights in Prince Edward County.  Up the road, you can visit Lake on the Mountain which is beautiful.  They have a microbrewery and amazing restaurants.

I believe.  Anyways as the kids were splashing around they were having a BBQ and invited us!  They gave us the most delicious fried pickerel. One of my favourites from growing up in Winnipeg.  The kids gobbled it up and we were welcomed for more.  I even had a delicious glass of red that was offered to me by one of the connoisseurs, lol.  A lovely group of grandpa’s.  Now my son requests pickerel all the time.  I love it!

There is great entertainment for the kids, like the playground & sandbox, a swimming pool, a bouncy castle and green space to play and run.  See the facilities {here}

Of course behind the cottage are wildflowers that kids discovered while playing hide and seek.  I was relaxing on the grass to get some shade as I’d been out in the sun all day.  It was nice to roll around with the kids.

We found so much beauty around Merland Park.  My son spotted the heart shaped rock!  Can you see it?

Isn’t this what Summer is all about? I love this pic of the evening sun and the kids, relaxing and taking it all in before going back to the city.

And after all the fun of sunbathing, playing at the playground, playing on the front lawn, enjoying a few cold one’s on the deck and all the food from the fishermen we enjoyed the sunset and went inside to watch the Bluejays play.
It was the perfect end to our vacation.  They also have a fire pit where you can hang with other cottagers and roast marshmallows and create more memories.

My husband has some time off in August and I am thinking perhaps we should come back in August. I know the kids want to as they keep asking to go back!  We have to rent the pontoon boat and go for a tour and fish off the dock. There is still so much for us to experience at Merland park Cottages.
If you visit, let them know Everything Mom and Baby sent you!  It’s a wonderful place to bring the family.  I am so glad we found this gem while driving by.
