A new twist on shrimp cocktail à la Ina Garten

Skip the frozen seafood aisle, instead make a quick and easy delicious roasted shrimp cocktail that adds a bit more oomph to your gathering or even a simple snack for yourself.

I love entertaining and I love presenting my guests with delicious food that I take pride in shopping for and presenting when friends come over.  I love a good a cold shrimp cocktail like anyone else.  Serve with a crisp bubbly and it’s instantly a special occasion.  
A few years ago when I was working in the spa, one of my clients invited me to her dinner party.  It was lovely and what I remembered the most was this great big sheet pan of roasted shrimp and a delicious cocktail sauce served with it and I thought how smart- roast the shrimp instead.   It was a refreshing change as the shrimps were juicy, the right temperature and a delight to the common and sometimes soggy shrimp cocktail that people put out.   Years later I got a copy of the Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics (<– Amazon affiliate link)and I saw that delicious recipe.   I’ve made it myself now numerous times and I even picked up a bag of frozen Argentinian shrimps to try as they tend to be a little sweeter. I can’t wait to make this for myself and to open a little bubbly to treat myself. 

Maybe I’ll invite a friend over 😉  Wanna come over? I’m getting hungry!  Now, I’m thinking of a baguette, butter and garlic.

    Wow lucky you to go to a real party hosted by Ina!!! And the shrimp made this way does sound special. It makes me think of the shrimp platter I brought for a get together, using rock shrimp, I really fussed over it, but I was shocked it didn’t get all eaten like when I pick up a tray done up already. I’d love to try this.

    I love shrimp and I love how easy the 2 recipes are but the sauce is amazing. As soon as I seen this the other day I knew I had to try it and that sauce is easy to make and as I said it’s amazingly delicious. Thanks for sharing.
