Protein Powered Oatmeal Berry Bowl

I am so happy that my kids love oatmeal.  I have been inspired to create oatmeal bowls that are pretty but when the kids see it, they want to gobble it down instead of me taking pictures.

Recently Genuine Health sent me their Chocolate fermented vegan protein powder and it is one of my favourite way to fuel post work out but I also like adding them to recipes and my kids enjoy them too.  So what makes a smoothie bowl great?

A well-balanced smoothie bowl contains protein, phytonutrients, good fat and fiber!

  • Protein: Protein is key for a well-balanced smoothie because it’s essential for metabolic rate, muscle recovery and growth, a strong immune system, a healthy brain, beautiful skin and hair. In fact, fermented vegan proteins+ is up to 40% more absorbable than other proteins!
  • Phytonutrients: Every smoothie or smoothie bowl you make is an awesome opportunity to ensure it’s packed with nourishing plant ingredients. These minuscule molecules assist every system in the body from gut health to brain health and everything in between! Genuine Health’s greens+ is a great way to add necessary phytonutrients with up to 350% more concentrated phytonutrient content vs. competing for green superfoods!
  • Good Fat: Many people still have the misconception that fat is bad for you. Just like protein, not all fats are created equal. There are definitely good fats and bad fats. Get good fats from a variety of options: coconut oil, avocado, nuts and seeds (that includes milk and butter).
  • Fiber: Both soluble and insoluble fibre are needed for a healthy gut and detoxification. Fiber helps to feed the good bacteria in your gut and the more good bacteria you have the better job you do starving out the bad bacteria.

Below, find this recipe courtesy of Genuine Health. I hope you’ll try it!  I sometimes just add the Chocolate fermented vegan protein powder and either top with fresh strawberries because, hello, chocolate & strawberries.  Banana’s and almond or peanut butter is another fave with oatmeal.
