A visit to The Red Umbrella Inn in Haliburtan,ON

We have been a few great adventures this summer and as the season wraps up, I’d love to share with you some of our favourite spots.  Nestled along Twelve Mile Lake in Haliburton, Ontario you will find a great family owned resort called Red Umbrella Inn.

We had our own cottage that faced the beautiful sparkling lake.  I must admit, I was apprehensive at first because I didn’t know what to expect as Ford Canada was sending us there for the weekend. Let me tell, you I fell in love with the grounds, our cottage was nice/clean and it was a great place for my young kids.  They were welcomed and the General Manager, Michael was above and beyond professional, kind and very helpful with my kids.  He’s also an amazing chef and the food at The Red Umbrella Inn is amazing.  You’ll get a gourmet meal.  Everything is made from scratch.  After a rough night( the owner, Ziad makes a mean Caesar, soooo good!), lol I craved some fish & chips.  The tartare sauce was the best I ever had, in fact, I think Michael made it in the classic French fashion.  The fish was cod and it was light and tasty.  It was my favourite meal of the summer actually.  What can I say? I appreciate quality.
Let me show you our cottage, come, have a look.   I am sorry, I don’t seem to have a picture of the bathroom!  I don’t know why, but it was a very nice bathroom with heated, tile floors.  I loved it!

Other than relaxing on your own private deck, there are lots to do.  The Red Umbrella Inn has a games room in the main lodge, Foosball and pool table. On the grounds, there is a wonderful toddler/kids beach.  I spent most of my time there with the kids.  You can play horse shoes, badminton and a nice big dock for boating and swimming.  At night they made a fire and the kids roasted marshmallows.

Doesn’t The Red Umbrella Inn look nice? We hope to go again next Summer, I’d like to find a regular spot for all of us to go and the staff were so friendly, our cottage was so clean and it had free WIFI.  But it’s a really nice place to recharge.  The twins made friends with some of the teens that boated in for some of Michaels delicious food.  It was rather sweet and we had such a great night as we were there for 2 nights and so laid back.  If you are curious about The Red Umbrella Inn I hope this post helped you make your mind up.  Disclosure: Our stay was sponsored by Ford Canada

This looks and sounds like an amazing place but I seen the wheelchair ramp and was wondering if they have wheelchair accessible cabins because that’s what I would need. My mother has a cottage up north but it’s been in the family for at least 50 years. Unfortunately it’s no where near wheelchair accessible but I had the best time up there every summer when I was a kid.

My favourite is fish and chips and once a year we go to the best restaurant for them. I’d tried loads of places until finding one that makes good ones and mushy peas too.
