The countdown is on, so to speak! Am, I right? I wish I had signed my kids up for the end of summer at Summer Day Camp at the Y for August, well at least before we head to Sherkston Shores and Winnipeg. Maybe we when get back from Winnipeg, as I’d love it if the kids learned some new skills and made new friends. With so many options for your camper to be, I think I’d like to sign my twins up for swim classes and my son for outdoor fun as he seems to have become a pro at Fortnite. Have a look at the video if you’re still wondering if summer at the Y would be great for your kid(s).
Why not end the summer with new experiences and some skill building(again I am kicking myself for not doing this), but kids develop a sense of community and build and create lasting friendships — in conservation and urban settings while allowing campers to return home each evening. If you’ve checked out my previous post, you’ll know that there is even extended care should you need extra time.
Something that is new to me about Y Summer Day camps is “Beads that Boost Belong“. What a great way to further teach kids about personal achievement.
As a form of recognition, beads at camp promote positive behaviour, and are worn as a constant reminder of what we value as a camp community. Throughout the week, beads are awarded to individuals for demonstrating our YMCA core values of responsibility, respect, inclusiveness, caring, health and honesty, and achieving success in specific program areas. Ask your camper how they achieved their beads!
You may be thinking what is offered at Day Camps at the YMCA, have a look:
With over 65 different programs to choose from, we are sure to have a camp that captures your child’s interests! All camps fall under the following categories:
